In 2002 we introduced our innovative ACME Bags™ Workhorse; replacing thousands of disposable plastic bags a year with each one. Its unique design - based on the classic plastic shopping bag - proved to be a customer favorite, and paved the way for ultra compact bags from companies like Baggu, Flip & Tumble and ChicoBag. We’ve taken it a step further, using 50% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles and containers to make the first recycled ultra compact on the market.

Design & Functionality
Just like the original ACME Bags™ Workhorse 1500, our Recycled PET Workhorse has a truly innovative feature - it folds into its own mini-sack attached inside the bag. Once stuffed into its pouch, it measures only 2" x 3" x 2", easily fitting into the palm of your hand and small enough to stash in a purse or pocket so you will always have one handy. Plus, it is impossible to lose the storage pouch since it's attached to the bag. The 50/50 blend of recycled PET and nylon is a heavier fabric weight than ripstop nylon, making it tough enough to carry a heavy load. Weighing in at only 2.1 ounces, these lightweights perform like champs. Each bag opens into a heavy-duty, water- and mildew-resistant 19"x 16" x 6" sack and holds up to 25 lbs. With this bag, you may never have to take a plastic shopping bag again.

Materials
We work with trusted mills that develop materials for some of the best brands in the outdoors industry - Patagonia, for example - to develop our unique, next generation recycled PET. We’ve done our research to insure this material is genuinely made from recycled bottles and containers – so you can be sure you’re really getting a sustainable shopping bag.

Unlike cheaper versions of recycled PET, our Next Generation Recycled PET fabric, blended with nylon, is as beautiful & strong as it is sustainable. Using recycled PET is smart - it cuts down on waste & minimizes damage to the environment by conserving oil, energy & non-renewable resources. In the U.S. alone over 45 billion plastic containers ended up in landfills in 2006.
